I’m done. Carry me.

I think it is safe to say that 2020 was not at all what I envisioned. Probably for any of us. For the first time in my life, instead of toasting in the new year, I will be toasting the old one goodbye.

It isn’t that 2020 didn’t have moments of good. There were plenty of them, but the weight of the year has been heavy. As I prayed it today, Jesus reminded me that his yoke is easy. His burden, light. He is strong enough to carry my burden, and exchange it for His.

“I have chosen you and not cast you off; fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41: 9-10

Dragging across the finish line of 2020 is a huge accomplishment, but I know there were plenty of moments this year where Jesus was the one dragging me. Holding my head just above the water so I could keep breathing as he treaded water for the both of us. The whole time the weight pulling us down was my unwillingness to let him carry me.

I’m not sure how you’re stepping out of 2020. But I for one am choosing to lay down and let someone else do the heavy lifting. I’m done. Carry me.
